Brandon Markell Holmes

Brandon Markell Holmes is a Chicago-born, Brooklyn-based vocalist, actor, and multidisciplinary artist described by Rolling Stone as a “slow-burning vocal-house juggernaut.” Formally trained in theatre and self-trained as a vocalist, he creates work rooted in social observation and the relationship between art and history. His voice appears on the Grammy-nominated Gorillaz album “Humanz,” and his visual EP “Inertia” was spotlighted by Afropunk. Brandon’s writing credits include contributions to FOX’s hit series “Empire,” and he was selected for a five-day artistic residency at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, reflecting his range across performance, music, and visual storytelling.

At Sound Collective, Brandon brings the same energy and authenticity he brings to the club scene, where he has become a sought-after house vocalist known for spontaneous performances with friends and collaborators including musclecars, JKriv, and Toucan Sounds. In the studio he has worked with artists such as Byron The Aquarius, Dee Diggs, and Anthony Nicholson, with support from BBC, NTS, Rinse FM, and Lot Radio. His teaching is grounded in expressive clarity, vocal honesty, and creative purpose, helping students understand not only how to perform, but why their voice matters.
