Meet the Instructor
Misha Savage
Misha “Silky” Savage has been a fixture in NYC’s cultural landscape since 2013. Chasing the sounds of heroes like Nile Rodgers, Fela Kuti, and Lee “Scratch” Perry, he shifted from jazz-guitar devotee to mothership-funk producer the moment he powered on a drum pad. Since then, he’s led the Afro-Caribbean dance orchestra The Saturators and co-written and produced for the neo-soul supergroup Herbivores.
Since 2015, Misha has taught music production, songwriting, and MCing for organizations such as Building Beats, Beat Global, and St. Nicks Alliance. In the studio, he gravitates toward Native Instruments Maschine and Ableton Live, using both to shape his unmistakably rhythmic, community-rooted sound.
