Miranda Xu
Miranda Xu is a music producer, pianist, and composer whose work blends classical training with contemporary production and scoring. Originally trained in classical piano and composition, she expanded into digital media and music technology at New York University, earning a degree in Integrated Digital Media with a minor in Music in 2020. She continued her studies at the University of Southern California, completing a Master of Music in Screen Scoring in 2021, and later at Berklee NYC, where she earned a second master’s degree in Songwriting and Production in 2024. Her industry experience includes serving as an A&R officer at Sony Music Entertainment China from 2022 to 2023, where she collaborated with emerging and established artists while developing projects across pop, indie, and commercial music markets. She is now based in New York City, working as a producer and composer across media, artist projects, and collaborative creative work.
At Sound Collective, Miranda teaches production, composition, and scoring with an emphasis on musical storytelling, harmonic craft, and building strong creative process. Her classes integrate her classical background and modern production techniques, guiding students through melody writing, arrangement, digital production, and the foundations of music for visual media. She focuses on helping students develop both technical fluency and artistic voice, encouraging them to approach each project with intention, emotional clarity, and professional discipline. Students studying with Miranda gain a deeper understanding of musical structure, hands-on production skills, and the ability to shape compelling musical narratives across genres and formats.
