Meet the Instructor
Marko Djordjevic
Marko Djordjevic is a Brooklyn-based drummer, composer, and bandleader with over 40 albums and thousands of live performances to his credit. Since graduating with honors from Berklee College of Music, he has performed and recorded with artists including Matt Garrison, Wayne Krantz, Jonah Smith, Clarence Spady, Lucky Peterson, Garry Willis, Rick Margitza, Bill Frisell, Lionel Loueke, Aaron Goldberg, The Itals, Chris McDermott, and Eric Lewis. As the composer for SVETI, he creates music inspired by his Balkan heritage while drawing on influences from Coltrane, Weather Report, Zappa, and The Police.
At Sound Collective, Marko brings decades of international performance experience and deep musical insight to his teaching. He focuses on drumming technique, improvisation, ensemble playing, and composition, helping students develop both technical mastery and creative expression. His approach emphasizes musical curiosity, adaptability, and connecting cultural and historical context to performance, enabling students to build confidence across genres and settings.
