Meet the Instructor
Justin Ma
Justin Ma is an experienced engineer, producer, and performer based out of “The Ramen Shop”, a recording space in Downtown Brooklyn. After having earned his degree in Songwriting and Contemporary Production at NYU he became a regular in the Brooklyn indie music scene, both recording and touring with established and up and coming acts as a bassist and keyboardist. He excels as the translator between artist and the DAW, being fluent in Logic, Ableton, and FL Studio. His DAW of choice is Bitwig Studio—a modular audio environment for tracking, designing, and performing—having earned a decade of experience under his belt as his primary production suite.
He has contributed as a live sound engineer and sound designer to non-profits such as the Future Perfect Project, as well as theater production companies like Adult Film and Twenty Somethings. He is the resident production coordinator for the latter, building audio systems for live music shows in unconventional venues such as skate parks and boxing rings.
If there’s a set of faders in front of him he is in his happy place, either in the studio or by a stage.
