Meet the Instructor
James Steinman-Gordon
James Steinman-Gordon is a Brooklyn native, pianist, vocalist, percussionist, composer, and educator based in New York City. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he studied Performance on scholarship and graduated summa cum laude, James has built a diverse career as a performing and teaching artist across jazz, pop, R&B, Latin, musical theater, and other contemporary styles. He has worked extensively as a musician and music director throughout the NYC area and beyond, leading ensembles, accompanying vocalists, and performing original work, playing private events, theater, and comedy cabaret. As an educator, James has taught hundreds of students of all ages and experience levels, combining strong technical foundations with improvisation, creativity, and artistic expression. His student-centered approach helps musicians develop confidence, musicianship, stylistic versatility, and their own unique voice in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
