Meet the Instructor
Eric Diamond
Eric Diamond, known professionally as Diamond and ItsCoolDiamond, is a New York based independent musician, producer, composer, engineer, and sound designer whose work blends jazz roots with forward-thinking hip hop and electronic production. A multi-instrumentalist with a signature palette of lush keys, intricate compositions, and spacious, futuristic textures, he has collaborated with artists and brands across the creative spectrum, including Curren$y, Ski Beatz, Snoop Dogg, Dear Silas, Jim Jones, Busta Rhymes, G Perico, LE$, Wiz Khalifa, Roland Global, Berklee College of Music, Canvas, and many others. Eric began his musical journey studying jazz piano, alto saxophone, and theory with acclaimed educators Brian Landrus, Charlie Lagond, and Anthony “Rusty” Cloud, foundations that later shaped the harmonic depth and musicality of his chart-topping productions. Before pursuing music full time, he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and worked professionally as an electrical engineer, a background that continues to inform the technical precision of his sound design and production work.
Drawing from both his jazz education and engineering mindset, Eric has forged a modern hip hop and jazz-fusion aesthetic that weaves synthesizers, acoustic instruments, and genre-blurring influences into a style that is soulful, cinematic, and unmistakably his own. At Sound Collective, he brings this hybrid approach directly into the classroom, guiding students through creative composition, sound design, and contemporary production techniques. His teaching emphasizes musicality, exploration, and hands-on craft, helping learners develop their own voice while building the technical skills needed to produce polished, expressive, and innovative music.
