Dan Walker is a New York–based mastering engineer, producer, and musician originally from Australia. Before settling in the U.S. in 2010, he spent years touring internationally with art-punk band The Death Set while developing his engineering skills through early work at Sydney’s Studio 301 and later in London’s electronic music scene. His career spans recording, producing, mixing, and remixing across punk, indie, and underground electronic music, with credits that include Diplo, Drop The Lime, Spankrock, XXXChange, Robots In Disguise, Little Boots, Guerilla Toss, DZ Deathrays, and Princess Superstar. His work has appeared on Dim Mak, Ultra Records, Ninja Tune, Atlantic, DFA, Rough Trade/XL, Captured Tracks, Sub Pop, and Dine Alone, and he has built and operated multiple studios including The Submarine Studio in Brooklyn.
At Sound Collective, Dan brings deep expertise in mastering, critical listening, and professional production workflows, helping students bridge creative instincts with technically refined results. He teaches with a focus on understanding signal flow, developing reliable engineering habits, and making confident decisions from tracking through final release. Students working with Dan gain hands-on insight into mixing and mastering practices used on real-world projects and learn how to shape their sound with clarity, intention, and professional polish.
