Meet the Instructor
Andrea Longato
Andrea is a New York based guitarist, producer, arranger, and educator whose work spans studio recording, live performance, and music direction across a wide range of contemporary styles. His productions and arrangements have supported numerous artists in the city, with several recordings earning placements on major U.S. television networks. A longtime member of Sound Collective,Andrea has been on faculty since 2011 and also serves as a resident guitar instructor at The Greenwich Village School (PS 41). In addition, he teaches at Avenues and Third Street School in Manhattan and has led clinics and classes at music events throughout the United States and Europe.
As a performer and recording artist, Andrea has worked with Janita, Blake Morgan, Vanessa Bley, Matt Doyle, Ron Pope, Kris Gruen, Elaine Lachica, and others. His studio collaborations include projects with Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields), Kieran Kelly (Angus & Julia Stone, Sufjan Stevens), and Benedetto Caccavale (Maxwell, Ashanti). Onstage and in the studio, he has collaborated with Stuart Matthewman (Sade, Maxwell), Johnathan “Butch” Norton (Eels, Lucinda Williams), Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, St. Vincent), Jason Loughlin (Amos Lee), and more. At Sound Collective, Andrea brings this wide-ranging professional background to his teaching, guiding students through musicianship, performance, and the practical skills needed to work confidently in both studio and live settings.
