Meet the Instructor
Alexander Wren
Alexander Wren has set out to resurrect the classic American song. “My artistic lineage is what my father handed me—songs written for the commoner by the commoner,” the artist remarks. Hailing from the Midwest and training for nearly a decade in Music Mecca, Nashville, TN, Alexander’s work has been featured editorially by major DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.), garnered critical acclaim in outlets including American Songwriter, and amassed a worldwide following alongside millions of streams. His songs have been cut by major labels and publishers, synced by brands including Adobe, and even sung within the halls of the most prestigious venues such as The Grand Ole Opry. He has toured the country and collaborated with Grammy winners.
Trends and instant gratification dominate our world; Alexander is searching for something different. “Many artists can out-sing me and outplay me, but when you strip away all the smoke and mirrors, you are left only with a song. That is my specialty.” Released in 2023, Alexander’s debut LP, To Whom It May Concern, resembles an artistic Frankenstein—an amalgamation of the best selections from his 600+ song catalog. Resulting is a peculiar soundscape that feels timeless yet somehow nostalgic—as if it emanated from an entirely unplaceable era. And these days, when he’s not wandering the city or reading the Times at his local diner, Alexander teaches the craft of songwriting to others and is chipping away at his sophomore album, with singles ‘The Fountain’ and ‘The Hum’ due eminently.
