Studio Engineering Full Program

Twelve months, three sections, and a portfolio of fully engineered, mixed, and mastered work, closing with a full session you run with outside musicians.

Section 1 · Intro

Pro Tools, signal flow, music theory, and basic mixing, culminating in a recorded session that demonstrates your core technical skills.

Section 2 · Intermediate

Digital engineering techniques, signal processing, and business skills, finishing with a polished, mixed deliverable.

Section 3 · Proficient

Advanced analog recording, sharpened ear training, and complex projects, finishing with a portfolio of fully engineered, mixed, and mastered work.

  1. 1 Intro to Studio Engineering. The full production workflow, from pre-production to final mix.
  2. 2 Intro to Pro Tools. The industry-standard DAW, focused on tracking and mixing essentials.
  3. 3 Music Theory for Producers. Core theory concepts with practical application.
  4. 4 Studio Essentials: Mixing. Take control of your own mixes and finish to a professional standard.
  5. 5 Piano for Producers: Intro. Keyboard skills for melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic fluency.
Final Project

Multitrack Recording Mixdown: record, edit, and mix down a full multitrack session, including self-recorded drums using proper mic technique.

  1. 1 Intermediate Studio Engineering. Hands-on training in a professional hybrid studio environment.
  2. 2 Music Business Essentials. How the industry works, how to earn, and how to protect your work.
  3. 3 Intro to Logic Pro / Ableton Live (Elective). Pick a DAW and build production basics: recording, MIDI, editing, effects.
  4. 4 Studio Essentials: Ear Training. Advanced aural perception and analysis for professional studio work.
  5. 5 Studio Essentials: Digital Engineering. Advanced in-the-box mixing and mastering with modern DAWs and plugins.
Final Project

Produced & Mastered Track: build, record, mix, and master a complete track using live recorded elements, outboard gear, and your own vocal capture, at streaming quality.

  1. 1 Advanced Studio Engineering. Advanced and unconventional recording and processing techniques.
  2. 2 Studio Essentials: Analog Engineering. Hardware consoles, tape machines, outboard processors, and mechanical effects.
  3. 3 Studio Essentials: Mastering. The art and science of mastering in a real production context.
Final Project

Full Session with Outside Players: plan, track, mix, and master a full multitrack session with outside musicians, the most complex project in the program.
