Mixing Basics is a free, hands-on workshop that gives you a real introduction to what mixing actually involves. Hosted in Sound Collective's New York City studios, this two-hour session focuses on learning to hear a mix critically, and gives you the tools and environment to start developing that ear. You'll work with professional equipment alongside experienced instructors, move through a focused exercise, and come away with a clear sense of what mixing is and what it takes to get good at it. The Mixing Basics workshop is designed to give you a genuine first experience, not an overview.

Every room is stocked with industry-standard gear, modern hardware & software, and flexible setups for classes, practice, and collaboration.
Throughout your studies, use these spaces as your daily workspace, producing in the labs, recording in the tracking rooms, mixing on the SSL console, and rehearsing sets in the DJ studio.
