Dave Previ
Dave is a New York-based drummer, studio musician, and rhythm section player who has been active in the city since 2005 after moving to study at The Collective School of Music. Over the years, he has performed and recorded with artists including Nevereven, Willamette, Savoy In Color, Portraiture, Ranjit and The Ambassadors, The RitMo Collective, Mieka Pauly, Pat McGee, George Grant and The Mighty Templars, The Laura Thomas Band, and Boogiehawg. Dave has studied with notable instructors such as Steve Fidyk, Peter Retzlaff, Ian Froman, Kim Plainfield, and Vince Cherico, building a career rooted in technical mastery and musical versatility.
At Sound Collective, Dave brings extensive experience teaching rudiments, technique, funk, rock, and groove. He emphasizes a deep understanding of time and rhythm, equipping students with the skills to excel in their chosen genres. His approach combines technique with practical application, helping students build confidence in performance, recording, and improvisation. Dave also contributes to Modern Drummer Magazine, sharing insights from his years as a professional musician and educator.
