Meet the Instructor
Jason Gianni
Jason Gianni is a New York City–based drummer, educator, and author with extensive experience in performance and music instruction. He holds a Master of Music degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Music degree with a Minor in Jazz Studies from the University of Delaware, both in Percussion Performance. Jason has studied under renowned musicians including Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Clayton Cameron, Mike Clark, Pete Zeldman, Frank Katz, and Kim Plainfield. He is the co-author of The Drummer’s Bible, a comprehensive guide to popular drum styles featuring approximately 400 musical examples in standard notation.
At Sound Collective, Jason brings decades of professional performance and teaching experience to his students. He specializes in drum technique, jazz, and contemporary styles, emphasizing musicality, groove, and creative expression. His lessons focus on practical skills and versatile musicianship, helping students confidently navigate live performance, recording, and composition.
