Alex Cohen
Alex Cohen is a New York City–based drummer and composer recognized as a modern technical drumming virtuoso. A graduate of The Collective, he is a founding member of the metal trio Murderhands and one of the most in-demand drummers in NYC. Cohen has performed and recorded across a wide range of styles and is particularly noted for his extreme technical abilities in metal and progressive drumming. He has worked with artists and organizations including Malignancy, Mac Miller, and National Geographic, and his instructional work has been featured in Sick Drummer and Drumhead magazines. His book Ultimate Progressive Drumming is widely used to develop advanced technique, limb independence, and polyrhythmic mastery, and he is preparing a follow-up with Ramon Montagner titled Extreme Polyrhythm and Speed Technique.
At Sound Collective, Cohen brings years of professional performance and teaching experience to drum instruction, emphasizing both technical proficiency and musical creativity. His approach guides students through complex rhythms, polyrhythms, and advanced coordination exercises, preparing them to excel in professional performance settings while developing a versatile, individualized drumming style.
