Meet the Instructor
Justin Ma
Justin Ma is a Brooklyn-based engineer, producer, and performer operating out of The Ramen Shop, a recording space in Downtown Brooklyn. After earning a degree in Songwriting and Contemporary Production at NYU, he became a fixture in the Brooklyn indie music scene, recording and touring as a bassist and keyboardist with both established and emerging artists. Known for his versatility across Logic, Ableton, and FL Studio, he primarily works in Bitwig Studio, where he has honed a decade of experience in tracking, designing, and performing music. He has also contributed as a live sound engineer and sound designer for non-profits and theater companies, bringing creativity and technical precision to unconventional performance spaces.
At Sound Collective, Justin brings years of hands-on production and performance experience to teach engineering, production, and live audio techniques. His approach emphasizes practical workflow, bridging the gap between artistic vision and technical execution. Students leave his classes with the skills to translate ideas into polished recordings, confidently navigate DAWs, and develop a professional approach to live and studio audio production.
