Martina Liviero
Martina Liviero is a New York City–based composer, guitarist, and vocalist originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a two-time ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award recipient (2019, 2020) and won the 2019 JEN Young Jazz Composer Showcase Award. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music in Jazz Composition, she also received the Thad Jones and Toshiko Akiyoshi Awards. Her work blends contemporary chamber music and large ensemble jazz with Argentinian and South American influences, and she has performed extensively at venues including Rockwood Music Hall, Regatta Bar, Berklee Performance Center, and The Lilypad.
At Sound Collective, Liviero brings over six years of teaching experience in guitar, ensembles, and music theory. She focuses on developing students’ technical skills and creative voice while encouraging practical musicianship in jazz and composition. Students leave her classes with a stronger command of harmonic concepts, ensemble interaction, and improvisational fluency, gaining the tools to confidently perform, compose, and explore their own musical identity.
